Dependent on your level of ability and experience, we will put together a course of driving lessons that suit your needs. To pass your driving test you will need to demonstrate proficiency in all of the modules outlined below.

Cockpit Drill:
It is important that you can enter the car safely and then seat yourself so that you are not only comfortable but can reach and operate all of the controls correctly.  Read more.

Controls, Instruments & Changing Gears:
You need to not only know what the different controls and instruments are but know how and when to use them!   Read more.

Moving Off & Stopping: How to move away under control, with due regard for other road users and how to stop the car under control in a safe, legal and convenient place.   Read more

Safe Position:
After moving away you'll need to drive in a position on the road which is safe not a hazard to other road users.

Mirrors - Vision & Use:
Applying the MSM routine when approaching and dealing with hazards, making sure you check the correct mirrors for your intended manoeuvre.

Signals: As part of your MSM routine you should be able to give a suitable signal, when necessary, clearly and in good time.

Anticipation & Planning:
Anticipation and Planning is a major part of safe driving, you should be able to anticipate the actions of other road users and also plan your drive.

Use of Speed:
Driving at a speed suitable for the road and traffic conditions.

Junctions: You should be able to approach and emerge from a variety of junctions and apply the MSM routine to deal with them.

Roundabouts: Applying the MSM routine when joining and leaving a roundabout.  Read more.

Pedestrian Crossings:
Using the MSM routine when approaching pedestrian crossings and anticipating the actions of pedestrians.   Read more.

Dual Carriageways:
How to position the car correctly, overtake and make progress when safe to do so.

Turn in the Road: 
Turn the vehicle around to face the opposite direction using forward and reverse gears while keeping the car under full control and having due regard for other road users.

Reversing:
Reverse into an entrance of a limited opening under full control and with due regard for others.   Read more.

Parking:
Be able to reverse into a parking space in a car park or at the side of the road while keeping the car under full control and with due regard for other road users.   Read more.

Emergency Stop:
Stop the car promptly and under control in an emergency and then move off under control when safe to do so. Read more.

Darkness & Weather Conditions:
Learn to drive at night and in a variety of weather conditions.

Environmental Issues: You should drive in a manner which is safer to the environment while not putting yourself or any other road users at risk and be aware of the impact of driving on the environment.

Carrying Passengers and Loads: Carrying additional passengers or loads affects the car and its handling, you need to be aware of this and also the preparation required.

Vehicle Safety Checks:
How to make regular checks of your vehicle to recognise problems early and to keep your car maintained.
You can choose the length and frequency of your lessons, but we recommend taking at least one two hour driving lesson a week. You will learn far more in one 2 hour lesson than you will in two 1 hour lessons - this makes it more cost effective for you!
